Joseph C. Torello, Jr., 83, of East Haven, passed away on Friday, September 15, 2017 at the West Haven VA Hospital after a brief illness. Joseph was born in New Haven on April 12, 1934 and was the beloved son of the late Joseph and Christine D’Amato Torello. He also had his own music studio for 25 years where he enjoyed teaching many students to play the guitar. He is survived by his brother Pasquale Torello and his sisters Marie Milano and Patricia DeCusati.

Upon graduation, John Iacobucci enrolled in Mortuary College at the American Academy/McAllister Institute of Funeral Services for professional training. There, he developed his own vision of what a funeral home should be, and in 1993 he and Peter Torello began the long process of designing and receiving approval of a 9500 square foot funeral home in North Haven. Featuring cathedral ceilings and a church-like serenity, the home is designed to help soothe and comfort the bereaved during a time of loss.
