The BA in IMGD has Concentrations in Animation, 3D Sculpting, Design, Writing, and Technical Artistry. The UCLA Game Lab is a research center supported by the School of Theater, Film and Television, and UCLA Arts. All DMA and UCLA Extension students may participate in the lab, which hosts visiting artists and researchers, guest speaker events, and workshops. Through Purdue Global and Purdue University’s School of Business and Information Technology, online students can earn a BS in Information Technology with a concentration in Game Development. Consisting of 15 credit hours, the concentration includes the Game Design and Mechanics; Game Programming; and Game Art and Animation courses. Of the 120 credit hours required to complete the Game Art BFA, 48 are in the major. The DT MFA at Parsons School of Design is a studio-based program consisting of Collaboration Studio and Thesis Studio courses. Examples of past partners include Apple, Samsung, The Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met), NASA, Intel, the Whitney Museum of American Art, Ralph Lauren, Mozilla, One Plus, and Red Bull. Projects explore areas such as game design, web and mobile apps, film and video, and audiovisual performance. Digital Worlds Institute features include the DAS Mentorship Program; access to LUMA at Digital World Studios; guest speakers and lecturers; Portfolio Open House events; participation in the internship program; and several degree options for game designers. The CGT BS with a Game Development and Design major is an ABET-accredited, STEM-designated program that explores game design, programming, rendering, animation, and visualization.
A dual Computer Science BS/MS is available as well as a unique undergraduate Certificate in Scenarios, Models, and Military Games. This program explores the use of scenarios, models, and gaming in the analysis of national security issues. The program is part of the School of Art, Media, and Technology and is very design focused, as opposed to technical heavy programs at some of the other schools on the list.
The School of Art and Design will offer a new program, illustration, in the fall. Graduates of the School of ECS CS Programs at Baylor University Baylor work at some of the world’s largest companies and research institutes. UPenn DMD graduates are routinely hired at DreamWorks Animation, Disney Animation, Electronic Arts (EA), Microsoft, Pixar, and Google.
